Default 5 speed swap question

Picked up a parts truck the other day it's a 1500 V6 5 speed
I also might be picking up a 2500 360 V8 auto truck.

I could use a backup truck to tow with so I was wondering could I swap the 5 speed from the 1500 into the 2500?

to simply here's what the two trucks specs are

1994 1500 reg cab long bed 2wd V6 5 speed (HD manual trans according to build sheet)

1994 2500 reg cab long bed 2wd auto 46rh

As long as both are 2wd. Take the manual and bolt it to the 2500. It should be a nv3500 which isn't really heavy duty per say. Will need a new 5.9 flywheel.

Is the six the same bellhousing bolt pattern? (Is the 3.9 just a 5.9 minus two cylinders?)

Should be I've seen Dakota guys do the swap before. I believe the v6 version of the nv3500 is even lighter duty. IMO you'd be better off with maintaining your auto with a check valve delete, bigger cooler, and a shift kit.

Do the manual The nv3500 is rated to 300 hp and I beilive that is a conservative statement. It wont take the torque of a cummins for sure, but its a pretty stout trans and has good gear ratios for a daily driver.

Ok, I was just curious. I part the trucks out so I get them fairly cheap and sell enough off them so I get the parts I need for free. I'll end up making money off the 2500 and keep it to drive.
