I noticed the one you chose has a cast crank, If it where mine i would get one with a forged crank. The rest of the parts list is good. My $.02

I suspect the kegger manifold is going to have a hard time feeding a 408.....

Yeah I thought about that. I'm really trying to keep the cost down, but I may have to spring for that hughes intake manifold. We'll see

I think your goals are mutually exclusive. Building a 408 is NOT an inexpensive endeavor. Granted, you could probably live with the kegger for a time, and then spring for the hughes, or M1 at a later date..... But, you are going to need custom tuning as well, and I highly suspect that swapping intakes would throw the tune way out of whack, and require retuning.... at an additional cost as well. I think you would probably end up at a lower cost, by just picking up either manifold right from the start, and tuning that combo.

Yeah I know its kinda funny that I'm "trying to keep the cost down" on a 408 lol

But you're right, probably smarter to go with the new intake, I'll go ahead and lump that into the cost.

There is no camshaft or timing chain on the short block but it does come with the cam bearings installed

What is the total cost of doing a 408 and swapping it yourself ? Pretty much cost of engine and extra stuff ?

Depends on what you start with, and how crazy you get. You can figure right around 5 grand for a 'typical' build. But, then you need to consider everything behind the engine. The stock 46RE isn't going to last long behind a 408..... I wouldn't even consider putting one in front of an NV3500....
