Default Making a plenum plate

Can anyone give me a rough size on the stock plenum plate? I'm wanting to go buy a sheet of aluminum but not sure on what size I'd need

If you go buy the gasket set, you'll have the exact size.

Are you making your own Hughes plate? There's is 1/4 inch. The stock one was made of stamped sheet metal(thin) and problematic.

If you're buying aluminum sheet, why not just weld the plate to the plenum instead of keeping it a 2-piece setup?

that's my plan basically, my father is a machinest and has the means to make the plate for me as long as I can supply the aluminum for it.

I don't have a welder at my house and I'm wanting to try and get this done in a very few select days

Well, you could take it to a shop and have them do it while you're at work/school. I always think in long term to save time and aggravation.

Just put the original plate back on with shorter bolts. The aluminum plate thing is an old wives tale and total waste of money.

Well there are plenty of people out there (including me) that will disagree with you. The paper thin piece of steel that was used don't hold up, That's why they leak in the first place. Chrysler had a TSB about it. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/09-05-00.htm Just get a piece of aluminum and use the gasket as a template. You can make one in no time and it's cheaper than what Hughes is selling them for.
