Did you do a tuneup as well? Cap, rotor, wires, plugs? Getting any codes? Does it start missing immediately, or does it take a couple minutes?

Did cap, rotor, and wires. At 55 it bounces like crazy until I turn off O/D, and has a real loss of power, if in park it revs up fine, but in drive its hell.

Need some info on your truck.... Year, engine, obviously it's an auto trans..... any other work you have done to it.

And you REALLY should start a NEW thread for this.

Im not sure how to start a new thread, 96 5.2l, 318,1500. Have had this problem for a while, I replaced steering gear box, pitman arm, idler arm and all tie rods, and even the drive shaft bearing. At my wits end! Almost put a for sale sign on it just because I can't figure out the bouncing crap. Tired of pushing O/D button every time I hit 50-55moh.

Ok, broke this out into it's own thread. You can start new threads by simply clicking on the "new thread" button in the upper left corner.

Anyway..... If the bouncing goes away, or, at least, becomes much less noticable when you hit O/D off... that's an engine miss. Given some of your symptoms, I would suspect that the plenum has been bad for a while, and the cat is starting to plug up. Easy test is to remove the FRONT O2 sensor from the exhaust. (it's right on the engine side of the cat.) and go for a drive. (unplug it up above the trans, and just remove it from the truck entirely.) See if it runs any better. It WILL set an O2 code.

Loosened exhaust, and the cat has been removed, by previous owner

Ah, leaves that out then. Try just unplugging the O2 sensor then, see if it runs any better.
