Default Grease for Yoke Splines?

I've seen a few threads in here about the topic of greasing the splines that may help with a thump feeling I'm getting when accelerating from a stop. Non of the threads that I've gone through really give a clear answer about what kind of grease to use for this. If I could find something that is packaged in a container or small squeeze tube that would be a bonus (don't really wanna swap out my existing grease already in my gun). Anyone done this with good results using a certain kind? My other concern is whether some grease may interact with trans fluid in a bad way.

Most of the yokes I have seen, that slide on splines, have a zerk fitting for just suck a purpose. I use the red, ultra-sticky stuff from advance auto. Works great, stays in place.

I'll check it out. Can't remember seeing one. I'm curious how a zerk would get grease around all the splines though. Is this grease good for all other greasing apps on the truck too (chassis)?

I use it on just about everything. Truck, tractors, etc.

Given that the yoke also has to insert thru a bushing.... might not be a zerk, now that I think about it. But, if you drop the shaft, just smear a liberal amount on the inside of yoke, and a bit on the outside, and put it back in.

Just use what is in your grease gun.

that's kinda what I was initially thinking first looking into this issue, but what I started reading on other auto forums, guys make it sound like it requires some special application (high temp, lithium, marine grade and so on), but nobody was on the same page with it. I didn't really think of that as being some special deal.

I would think any EP rated grease should work.
