Hey guys, I have a 46re transmission out of a 1996 dodge ram that I want to put in a 2000 dodge ram with a 46re in it, will it work correctly?

have to change the electronics in the trans, to match the year of the PCM in the truck. Otherwise, it will not work. There are some differences in how the sensors mount, so, have both transmission handy when you are changing the electronics.

Ive done some research and I found the same thing about a few different sensors you gotta switch, have you tried it before?

No, but others on the site have. Replace the governor pressure sensor, solenoid, and retaining clip, and you are pretty much done. The retainer changed from 99 to 00. I think that is about the only difference.

Did the change from 46RH to RE happen in '96 or '97?

My 96 has the RE, another member here reportedly has the RH in his....... 96 was the first year of OBDII (sorta) on these trucks, so, I would think..... that they *should* be RE.
