front rotor wear
Hi, 2001 Ram 1500 2wd. My right front brake rotor gets worn down to almost nothing every 2 years. I always replace brakes and rotors on both sides when this happens. My question is why is it wearing down so quickly?

How old are the soft lines? The passenger soft line could be swelled shut internally, which inhibits fluid from returning to the reservoir. This results in the pads dragging on the rotor and causing premature wear. Your vehicle's brake system probably could stand to be flushed as well, which should be done about every two years or when the fluid is no longer clear.
When you replace them you might cut the suspected bad side open to see if they're either swelled shut or blocked with debris. It would be a good idea to rebuild and thoroughly clean the calipers as well.
Screw that, just replace 'em.
Agreed....just replaced a pair on my Dakota...rock auto has them fairly inexpensive. Be sure if replacing the hoses to replace the copper crush washers too....my understanding theyre only really good for one tightening unless you torch them back to life.
I got mine for like 15 bucks a whack, right here locally. And I didn't have to pay shipping....

I'd rather clean up and rebuild originals rather than chancing what could end up being crappy aftermarket parts.
Cheap <> Quality
To each his own.
I have never had an aftermarket caliper fail. Not once. I can't even count the number of them I have installed...... Generally, if it survives the bleeding procedure, without blowing fluid everywhere, it'll last a good long time.
