First off great site lots of info. I searched for info on this brake line but could only find stuff on the rear one above the tank so here it goes. 2001 1500 360ci busted brake line in the front that goes from the aluminum block (between the master and the abs I think) about 3 feet down to another block on the frame. Does anyone know what size thread fittings and what type of flare for either end? Metric or standard? The lower one is a smaller thread than the upper. Unfortunately the old line is gone this was my dads truck and it's been sitting like this for a little while. Any help is appreciated!
I don't recall if those are standard, or metric...... Could go to the parts store, have them pull the soft line off the shelf, and then see what threads in nice. Assuming they HAVE one on the shelf.......
Ok well it took a few trips to get the right stuff and find a place that had them in stock but the line was a standard thread/standard flare that fit down below then on top I needed a metric adapter m10x1.0 bubble flare. AGS part number BLF-31C, or Edelmann number 271300, Weatherhead number 1442 if anyone else needs this in the future
SStubes is showing four different front brake line kits for 1998-2001, depending on whether 2WD, or 4WD, and whether all wheel ABS, or just rear wheel ABS. OEM steel is about 75 bucks, Stainless steel lines are about 100 bucks. Might be a little cheaper on Amazon?
I just replaced all my rear lines from the front junction block back to the wheels, a few months ago. Will probably do the front lines this summer. If the truck has been sitting... Pay particular attention to that intermediate line you mentioned...going to the rear along the frame (driver's side) near the gas tank (tight space). Lots of moist crud collects/gets trapped up in there, and rots out the OEM line. Below is a picture of the front kit for my truck...yours is probably similar. I've done a few "me-bend-em-myself" brake line replacements over the years...but looking at that picture, and the number of compound bends/angles involved...I think I'll bite the bullet, and "pay the man"! ☺ https://sstubes.com/vehicle-manufact...5&pageNumber=1
When you did this did you replace the block on the frame that goes from the aluminum brake line to rubber? If so do you happen to know a part number for that? Just blew the aluminum line and block.
