Looses power and wont start
Ram 1500 with 318 all started bout month ago. Was driving and every thing lost power would turn over buy sounded like no fire . got on line and read a lot came to conclusion it was the CP's. Replaced didn't have any mor problems drove maybe 50 miles done same thing on my 16 yo so I to to mechanic about 10 miles away drive perfect. He kept it a few weeks and said he couldn't find any thing wrong. Don't throw codes and didn't quit on him when he drove it. So sat the I drive it made 3 miles and it does same thing . bit the check engine light come on and beeps and the fuel gauge ding empty and shows empty. So I do the key trick and no code come up ,but it does say cruise under the odometer. I notice the fuel gauge is still showing empty. She'll I get out and tap on wires cause I'm thinking loose ground . still turning over but no spark. Sit there about 10 min turn on key fuel gauge comes on and she starts up. Drive about 1/4 mile same thing loose all power checks enging light comes on for second and beps then fuel light and no fuel gauge or temp gauge either time. I forgot to mention that. All reg light seat belt ,abs and such come on and go off like they are suppose to any suggestions. Ecm. I pulled the ACD and it sounded same but fuel gauge came on. Pulled fuel relay and gauge came on . and help would be appreciated... I'll loom threw more threads when I get home thanks Shane.
Because everything is intermittent, the first thing I'd do is, starting at the battery, clean and tighten every cable and wire that you can find that is bolted to something, Battery, PDC, Starter/starter solenoid, Alternator. Start at the battery and clean all ground wire connections on the engine, frame, chassis, firewall, including the ground wire from the firewall to the PCM.
Get yourself a 12 volt test light and a multimeter. They are essential basic tools for troubleshooting electrical/electronic circuitry.
A service manual would be nice to have, and there are a lot of members here willing to help you. We are kinda slow sometimes, but we are persistent.

Sory it has taken me so long to get back. But ive been chasing wires. I got to tranny and found a harness that looked to have fairly new tape in it.. I took tape off to investagate and found , sometime down the line a mouse or somerhing had chewed wires bt shift linkage. So some jack leg decides to solder 1 black wire and instead of heat shrink he uses tape.. Well he fails to notice the other 3 black /white , purple/white, red/white wires that have knicks in them . I got them crimped tpgether now bit what is best way to repair? Solder and heat shrink. Im gonna include a pic.I drove trick today seemd fine do you think this could be problem? Thanks again guys
If those wires were shorting, they most certainly could be causing some interesting issues. Would certainly confuse the PCM.... (one would think it would set codes, and such, as well....)
For nicks in the wires, that don't have too many broken strands, I just hit them individually with liquid electric tape, let them dry, the wrap individually with tape, and then the whole harness. Never had one come back on me.
