yeah, they are, i was thinking of a different scanner. they're more than $80, but not as high as the one i was thinking of. i was thinking of the bigger one that replaced the one you have. i think it's the modus, but there might have been a model between that and yours.

Solus? Modis? Snap-On had a bunch of different ones. The MT2500's have gotten cheap, as they don't do vehicle newer than some time in the early 2000's.... Don't recall what the cut-off year was.... (might even be 2001.....) The later versions are coming down in price, but, still a LOT more than what I would be willing to spend on them, as I don't do that kind of thing for a living any more.

snap on has very nice stuff for very large amounts of $$$$, but not really worth it for a home gamer. unless you can get it for $80 lol...

i would like to upgrade somewhat since i am reluctantly the family mechanic, but i don't do it for a living and my back couldn't handle it even if i wanted to. this is what i have now

better than what the parts stores have for the price, and it does live data like abs sensors... that said i would like some 2 way capability for abs flushes/bleeding, shutting off injectors, key/remote programming would be a neat bonus too.

but like i said, i don't really make any money off my tools [i do count repairs i make on my own vehicles as money made though] so i would rather not spend 3k to bleed my inlaws brakes lol

i got it at amazon. i paid $179 and it came straight from china... it's a nice piece, no 2 way, only live stream and codes, but extremely useful.

if you get one, be careful of counterfeits, they're out there and you cant update them.

Amazon Amazon

i think the reviews were how i figured what was real and not.

i will say though, that i am having issues getting it to link with my ram. i don't know if there is something wrong with the truck or the scanner, but the scanner has worked flawlessly on everything else i have connected it to.

If it works on everything else with no problem, then likely it is your truck that is the issue. Check the OBD port, and make sure the contacts are clean.

well, found drugs... remnants at least. there was a syringe in the passenger visor and the mirror was loose and there was residue on it and the rear floor that made my fingers go numb. after that happened i threw away the visors and ordered a set that arrived today. spent the rest of the weekend washing down the interior with gloves on and broke out the inspection mirror before sticking my hands anywhere new.

tried fixing my overhead console, but the plastic broke in a few key places so i said screw it and ordered one that got here yesterday. debating pulling the headliner for some deep cleaning and repair since i'm half way there anyway.

realized the top of my dash is shattered while i was busy washing everything. not super noticeable, mostly passenger side up by the vents/windshield. also noticed damn near every screw in the dash has been replaced with zip ties.

bonus, pulled all the duct tape off the back window and discovered the only problem it had was the latch was broken. someone drilled it to break in, but they're small holes a new latch will be able to cover them.
