tried fixing my overhead console, but the plastic broke in a few key places so i said screw it and ordered one that got here yesterday. debating pulling the headliner for some deep cleaning and repair since i'm half way there anyway.

realized the top of my dash is shattered while i was busy washing everything. not super noticeable, mostly passenger side up by the vents/windshield. also noticed damn near every screw in the dash has been replaced with zip ties.

bonus, pulled all the duct tape off the back window and discovered the only problem it had was the latch was broken. someone drilled it to break in, but they're small holes a new latch will be able to cover them.
Gross !! At least you didn't get stuck with the needle thank god !

wow, you got free drugs!... j.k.
I'd be more worried about getting pulled over one day and getting arrested for something in your car.
Never consent to a search in that truck. That being said, bookmark this thread if that ever happens.
Now regarding the plastic, it is very common to be brittle in these years.

lol... Yeah, not sure quite how to protect myself from a drug inspection. I would hope this thread would be enough.

I knew the plastic was brittle, but damn. Breath on it wrong and SNAP.

speaking of gears... is the d44 hopeless or can it be beefed up reasonably? d60's are like unicorns around here. i'm not that hard on my stuff, but i've read everything from mine has never broke to my dog sneezed and it just exploded.

Longevity is directly related to what you do with it, and your tire size. Go big on the tires, and expect things to wear out quickly. (larger than 33's.) Do a lot of heavy off-roading, and expect the same thing. Combine the two, and expect to break things on a regular basis. Go easy on it, and it will last forever.

Yeah, it should survive that fairly well. Might need to add balljoints to the list, though probably not yearly.

as it sits right now it's a blank slate. i have to rebuild the suspension and the front and rear end. actually it's more of that dreaded scope creep. i HAVE to rebuild the rear end and since i'm doing gears and the steering needs attention the front end got dragged into it. since this will be alot of money, i don't want to drop a dime into something thats gonna blow the first time it hits gravel.

my relatives live in the mountains and their driveways alone have trapped several of my 2wd vehicles when it gets wet or icy. thats my primary offroad use. i try to go up a bit further sometimes to have some fun, but at best maybe 5 times a year do i actually have time or energy for it.

honestly there isn't much you can do around here legally anymore which is the main reason i sold my jeep. hell, you need one of three permits just to be in the mountains anymore depending on who runs it. technically you need a fishing license just to breakdown on the side of the road heading up to my brothers. our govt around here is crazy for that tourist outdoorsman money, we're a prime destination for fishing and hunting.
