Transmission swap. Will it fit?
1995 ram 2500 2wd 5.9l gas transmission is the same as 1996 ram 1500 2wd 5.2l ??

No. They aren't, you need a trans from a 94 or 95.

94 and 95 1500 trucks are Obd1 and have Thebes's 46rh. The h stands for hydraulic control.
96 and newer 1500 trucks are obd2 (96 is first year of obd2), and they have the 46re. The e stands for electronic controll.

Also call dealer and get free build sheet for your truck, just need vin number.

If it's a three pin for trans control, that is indeed an RH, and it will likely work. Seems not all 96's moved to the RE.
