Default Dash Replacement Color

I'm getting ready to order a replacement dash for my 1997 Ram. Is LMC still considered to have a good replacement dash or is there a better option now?

Also, if i go with the LMC dash i will have to paint it to match as the 1997 and lower year dashes only come in 1 color. If anyone has painted theirs, did you use the Colorbond paint LMC sells and how many cans of paint did it take? Did you use the Colorbond cleaner or the Colorbond adhesion promoter? Any tips or tricks?

Thanks

You can get "plastic" paint at the auto parts store in various colors for fairly cheap. No idea how good it is...... UV resistant being the big one.

LMC sells paint I just was wondering if 1 can would be enough and if anybody had painted one before and had any suggestions. LMC also sells a cleaner, adhesion promoter, and clear coat. I didn't know if the adhesion promoter or clear coat are necessary or not.

No on the clear, yes on the adhesion promoter. But you can get that locally too.

I just got one from DashSkin and its a good product. Looks like you could get one there and save about $40 for an unpainted black cover. Or are you replacing the whole dash? That might be a different deal.

My LMC is nearly a factory match for the dark gray interior. Only difference is the glare or finish isn't as shiny as the old plastic. Under inspection, I can tell its a different texture, but its dang near perfect. Works great for me. Bolted right in, no fitment issues or problems. Been in since fall of 2013. Even if its slightly different, it just looks more custom like new trucks. Nothing is monotone anymore. Heck, can't even get dark gray in new trucks. Seen the new 4th gens? All light gray with even lighter trim. Stupid.

People aren't supposed to get their trucks dirty anymore......
