Almost done with the rebuild. Ordered a Borg Warner 50185 governor pressure solenoid and the rebuild/upgrade on the valve body will be done. Need to put the forward/reverse drums and the pump. Taking pictures and will add when done. I'll also have my thoughts on how it went with the rebuild. Here are a couple of pictures for viewing enjoyment. Yes, I cleaned the frictions before installing.
Kinda.... it comes with a selection of replacement parts, exactly which kit you get determines which parts you get. Sonnax sure cure is recommended for these transmissions. (and make sure you get the FULL kit.)

The rebuild kit I ordered has the metal accumulators and HD kick down bar. So keeping the Zip Kit.
The metal accumulators and the HD kick down that are in the Sonnax Sure Cure Kit and NOT in the Sonnax Zip Kit, were in the transmission performance rebuild kit I used. There are items that are in the 2 kits that the transmission needs to be pulled and torn down so bushings, turbine shaft seals and other small items can be replaced. With the Sure Cure Kit, one will have to get a reamer to Ream Pressure Regulator Valve & Throttle Pressure Plug Bore NOTE: Requires Sonnax tool kit F-22771A-TL7 and VB-FIX alignment fixture, not included in this kit. With the Sonnax Zip Kit reaming isn't required. For the Throttle Valve Lineup for the ZIP Kit, I used 1 shim for positive engagement and to me it shifts nicely. More shims, more positive engagement. The detailed instructions for the ZIP Kit for the 46re, https://d2q1ebiag300ih.cloudfront.ne...f?v=1534194758 and the Sure Cure Kit for the 46re, https://d2q1ebiag300ih.cloudfront.ne...f?v=1534529881
A lot of the Sonnax Sure Cure Kits on the net are Sonnax Zip Kits. Sonnax has replaced the Sure Cure Kit with the ZIP Kit. Finding a Sure Cure Kit will be harder as time goes by. These kits are a semi rebuild of the VB. My thoughts, if there are other problems (during inspection) with the VB not covered by the kit, post pictures for advice.
Im in the process of rebuilding a 46RE and the steels I took out are thicker than the kolene steels I'm putting in. Can you tell me how many Alto red clutches and Kolene steels go into the OD direct clutch pack?
