I got thinner steels also in my kit for the OD. I used an extra steel, Kolene, and friction, Alto Red, in the OD unit. I measured the original friction/steels and with the extra Kolene/friction in the new stack, they both came in almost the same measurement for the stack. I only have about 200 miles since rebuild and enjoying the shifts, it gives a little bump when going in gears but nothing really obnoxious if you drive a lot.

So you added an extra clutch and steel in the OD direct clutch pack or the OD clutch pack? I also measured the OD direct clutch stack up of the original (7 steels and 8 clutches 1.5260) and the new stack up (8 steels and 9 clutches 1.5270). I even measured a stack up of 9 steels and 10 clutches (1.6425). I'm just worried about clearance issues, as I'm told I should have .004 between each clutch. So if I use a 10 clutch stack up I need .040 total clearance, 9 clutches .036, 8 clutches .032. I'm just not sure where to take this measurement at?

OD direct. Use the 8 steels and 9 clutches, as the measurement is so close to each other, .001 inch is acceptable. As for the .004 between the frictions/steels I've never heard of that but I haven't been a transmission tech, just an ASE certified (backyard) mechanic. No problems here with the 8 steels and 9 frictions stack on mine. Mine was off by by about .001 also. This is called a "power pack" with the extra friction/steel and will help handle more torque/power, less slipping, and more holding (clamping) power in OD.

Excellent, I appreciate the help. I'll be getting back to work on the rebuild this morning.
