Default Axle swap

So my rear axle was going bad so i bought a 02 dodge ram 2500 to replace the rear and the front. Since the gear ratio doesnt match my current set. The front axle has abs wires but my truck doesnt have a front abs hookup. Will this be an issue?
the axles are going into a 99 ram 1500
is there anything i should replace on them aside from brakes before installing them?

Thanks

Change the fluid.

I suspect you could take the hub/bearing units off the old axle, and put them on the new one, or, if they aren't hideously expensive, just replace them with non-abs units, or, just clip the wires. It won't cause any trouble.

If the axles are out of an auto, 2500 then they are Dana 60's, nothing will switch over to 1500 axles (Dana 44, Chrysler 9.25). If your truck doesn't have ABS, just don't worry about it. Your going to need to modify the driveshafts. Why not just rebuild the rear that's in the truck??

As roadbully said, nothing will interchange between the axles from the 1500 to the 2500 axles. The front axle from the 2500 will bolt into place of the 1500 axle, but the u-joint will be different.
The rear axle is more of a project. The 2500 axle has 3 inch spring pads, the 1500 has 2.5 inch spring pads. You will either have to change the spring hangars, or change the perch on the axle. Any of those are a project.

As for the front abs, as HeyYou said, you can just cut the wires off or change the whole hub assembly.

Ooops, missed that part, Frankie and Roadbully are correct. Nothing interchanges.

Current axles are already 2500 axles on my 1500. I welded on the 2500 perches for the rear and redid the driveshaft. Thanks

That makes it easy then. It would probably be a good idea to look at/ replace the limited slip clutch pack in the rear end while it's out in the open. Otherwise it sounds like you have it covered.

I believe they changed the pinion yoke on the differential in 01 that the driveshaft bolts onto. Your 99 is probably just the stock one that uses 2 straps on the u joint unless 2500s are different?

LOLz...yeah cut off the ABS wires from the "new" front axle.

Different gear ratios though...have a tuner to compensate for that?
