If I'm going to take the time to rebuild this, back to factory. I'm thinking an aux trans cooler or deeper oil pan would be a good idea. If it'll help prolong the life any.

Build it better than factory. There are a LOT of upgrades available for the trans, that will make it essential as bulletproof as you want it. Check out transmisioncenter.net for some interesting rebuild kits.
