Water pump/fan thread issue
So 7 years ago I was working out of town and needed my water pump replaced. An independent shop there replaced it for me. Today I changed that pump, and as I unthreaded the fan, I noticed the threads had been cross threaded. I got it off without too much difficulty. Now I go to put the fan onto the new pump, it will not thread on. Like an idiot, I forced it a bit and now both sets of threads (male and female) are both totally buggered up. I have the fan off right now, but the threads are a mess inside the big nut, as well as on my new pump.
I am a welder by occupation, so I'm considering filing/grinding down the male thread so that the fan slips onto the pump, then tack welding it on. But the next time I need to remove the fan I'd need to file or hacksaw the weld to get it off. Bad idea?
Any other ideas?
Oh, and on this pump the pulley is pressed onto the pump. The parts shop also had a pump with the pulley bolted on, but of course my old one wasn't like that.

Grab a new fan clutch which is what the blades attach to and has the new nut. They can get old and not work over time anyway. I think mine was like $40 bucks and built in 'merica. Replace blades to the new clutch and don't be so superman next time!
What brand clutch should I ask for at the parts store?
