I started an album on my profile. Going to try to take pictures during the process. I'm having a blast just getting to work on the ol girl again.

I have the engine and transmission out. Pulled the O.D. off, torque converter and started looking inside. So far, I have only seen one gasket between the O.D. and main tranny body that was broken. I have not seen any broken parts, the O.D. shaft turns by hand, doesn't seem to have play. The main transmission also turns, though on the torque converter side, there is 2 splines, I call one an inner shaft and the other an outer. The inner shaft spins by hand, but I haven't been able to spin the outer shaft. Going to look at my service tech manual closer, but I can't find any "smoking gun". Perhaps the transmission isn't as smoked as I thought. Maybe fluid clog/low with inexperienced mechanic? details as they become available.

I have a few pics of the internals of the 46rh, I can't create an album, don't have permission. I watched a youtube video about testing the torque converter. I feel resistance tuning the stator.

I'm hoping to show in one pic, the trannny fluid and in the second, the internals. Maybe you can see something I don't. So far there have been no smoking guns. I did see a gasket or seal that was broken between the main body and overdrive unit.

Without tearing into it you wouldn't know it was bad. My tranny that was completely shot looked exactly like that. But it broke clutch packs 1&3

MoparFanatic21, what were your symptoms? Personally I lost all gears, no motion no matter what. I will finish disassemble, since I've yet to find anything that sticks out as a smoking gun. I plan on replacing clutches, gaskets and seals, especially since its out and my grandfather always said, do it right the first time or don't do it.

That snap ring from the O/D unit holds a piece in place that retains a rather stiff spring, so, careful when you start pulling that apart.... Gonna need a press.

Was driving went to go up a hill had no power and revved but finally caught a gear then just revved **** it on start it back up and you could go 250ft before it just revved. Repeated that until I got home. Me personally I think the TC was fried but sent all the gunk/burnt fluid through the tranny. That was in my Durango with the 46re
