I've been looking for kits, I think that summit racing equipment has what I'm looking for, in the price range I can afford. Is summit ok?

Summit is fine, they are just the retailer. Whose name is on the kit?

ATP rebuild kit, Transgo shift kit and sealed power engine kit.

Transgo is definitely good, as is sealed power. For the trans kit, check out the viper series of kits at transmissioncenter.net. If you are going to rebuild it, might just as well improve it. Right?

Good to know the kits are decent. As for the viper kit, if I could afford that, I would just have mine rebuilt professionally.

My thought was the engine is out, its high mileage, maybe rebuild it then.
I've been thinking about this for a couple weeks. The day I had to park my truck, I remember starting at an intersection, the engine revved and after a couple seconds, the truck began to move, then on the way back home, I was climbing a small hill and about half way up, that's when things stopped. I lost all gears, forward and reverse. I blame the transmission, because that's a big issue with dodge. But, loosing forward and reverse at the same time, would that point to a bad transfer case or could it still be the transmission?

Not much to go wrong with the t-case, and it usually gives plenty of warning before it gives up the ghost.

I have the transfer case out, if I spin the shaft that connects the transmission, I would see the drive shaft connection turn?

So long as it isn't in neutral.

I rotated the transmission side when I got home, both shafts did spin. I don't know if I mentioned it, the transfer case was already out of the truck. If things go decently, this Saturday my 95 engine and transmission will be out. Maybe some prep on the 97 with disconnect. Things are moving along. Will have details about how things go. Hopefully my experience can help someone else too.
