Default Broken Spark Plug And Bolt Extractor

So I haven't posted in a longgg time since I sold my first Ram and got myself a Cummins. I recently bought a 1996 Ram 1500 5.9l that's fairly well ragged out. So I jumped in head first to restore this thing! 4 broken exhaust bolts and a broken spark plug later. I am fed up with it. I got the manifold bolts out and now I was working on the spark plug. It broke off everything but the threads of the plug so I figured no problem I'll use my bolt extractor and it will come right out. WRONG the end where the socket goes snapped right off so there is still about 2" of the bolt extractor coming out of the first bank on the driver side. I tried welding a nut to it vise grips, stud extractors. I'm stuck now not wanting to pull the motor. I am open to all suggestions! Thanks in advance.

You are heading in the right direction. Weld a larger nut to it, and see if you can get it out. Apply steady, even pressure, don't hammer on it. (it'll break.) Worst case, pull the head.

Thank you i will try a little bit bigger of a nut and report back! Should I be trying to remove it or just continue with trying to remove the plug. I have been trying to remove the screw extractor so far. (Clockwise)

HeyYou you're the man! welded on a bigger nut that slid all the way over the extractor and welded it on. And it was enough to get it out!

Halfway there.

Might try the extractor with the larger nut on it.... Just be gentle, and do NOT break it off. Try turning it BOTH ways, if you can get it to break loose, in either direction, you'll be able to get it out. (don't thread it all the way into the cylinder though, if that happens, you WILL be pulling the head. )

Hitting it with chemicals will help too. PB Blaster is my personal favorite. CRC Freeze Off might not be bad here either. It think it uses nitrogen as a propellant, or something, and it 'freezes' the part you are trying to remove. Might help. Might not. Worth a shot though.

I have been soaking it and am going to continue to do that. I bought a new ez out and might even order a little bit of a larger ez out. I will also look for some of the nitrogen stuff. I can't thread it any further in because the steel collar under the nut on a spark plug is also still there.

Yeah, that won't help. (the collar) Give it a shot, see what happens. I am a firm believer in "better life thru chemistry".

Something's gotta give I may even borrow my neighbors heating element for heating things up with electric. I forgot what they are called figure a little torch wouldn't be a good idea to be using. Worst case what kind of heads would you suggest? I only plan on a slight HP over stock I have long tubes wrapped up ready to install now. And I know I wanna do a intake so I don't have to worry about the plenum. And 1.7 rockers! The Cummins is going thru a 1000hp+ now so this has to be reliable enough to tow it.
