Just got a automatic ram a few days ago it was making a clinking noise while idling then after a while the clinking noise continued while accelerating. Then the truck made a loud pop and wouldn’t move when i pushed the gas. Got out and notice the transfer case sitting on the plate. It broke off from the tranny. I honestly have no idea if i need a whole new transmission and transfer case or just the transfer case. Someone please help me. I tried looking up the number on my transfer case but it nothing seems to pop up.

 

Should be an NV231D Possibly 231DHD.....

Need to check and see just where it broke. Worst case: Replace t-case and O/D section of the trans. Can you post a pic?

 

 

231d. Transmission broke...... T-case might be re-usable.
