Do you already have the diesel truck? There are a variety of cab/bed configurations....... and they all came with the gas, or diesel engine. They didn't really discriminate. What exactly do you have, and what do you want to end up with?

I just got rid of a mega cab. I' wanting to know if a ext cab long bed has the same wheel base as the 4 door short beds so I can get a ext cab long bed diesel and swap the cab and bed with the 4 door short bed and still bolt up on the frame and fender wells match up

Nope. Long bed, and short bed, use different frames, regardless of cab.

what I'm trying to get at here is will a 4 door cab and short bed swap out with a ext cab long bed and the fender wells still line up where they are wanting to. I'm getting a ext cab long bed and wanting to put a 4 door cab and short bed on it if it'l work

the short bed xcabs have a shorter wheelbase/frame. mine is about 138" center to center if that helps.

I figured the short bed ext cab wouldn't work but hoping the long bed ext cab would be close enough to make work

The four-door cabs are the same lenth as the extended cabs on the 2nd gens. Rear doors are only 'half' doors.....
