Default 2001 Ram 1500 was running and just quit

I have a remote starter in my truck and warmed it up before getting ready to go out and plow snow. It ran 25 minutes and shut down as it should and then I went out and started the truck and it ran for a few seconds and just stopped. I can squirt some starter fluid into the air intake and it will run for a couple seconds then quit again. That tells me it isn't ignition. I hear the fuel pump when I turn the key. It whines for a second or two. Any ideas what else I can check. I was a mechanic for my profession but have been retired for many years and have forgotten some things.

Is there a way I can test the fuel pump other than just listening to it? Like maybe pulling a line off and putting it in a jug and turning the key on?

Get a noid light when you pick up the pressure gauge, and verify you are getting injector pulse as well.

And the story goes on Well I got up this morning and decided to give my truck a try. I grabbed my remote starter and hit the button. It started right up and ran fine. I got out there and made a couple trips back and forth in the driveway with the plow and as I started back down the driveway it started running rough and wouldn't respond to the throttle so I coasted to the end of the driveway and it was back to where it was yesterday. It spins over fine but will not start. Is the fuel pump something that goes all at once or can it work then quit and then work again? I lean to a fuel problem more so than an ignition problem because if I give it a shot of starting fluid it will fire right up for a couple seconds.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2001 Ram 1500?

Need to see what fuel pressure looks like when it won't start.
