Default Water Pump Inlet Tube...

Was it just me, or are these things just pieces of S***? Do you push the tube all the way down (like I did) or do you get it somewhere in the middle? Plus the mount on the tube doesn't line up with the bolt hole... any advice? As you can tell I already beat the crap out of the tube

Haha, I went through the same thing! But I finally fixed it right.

Here's what I did:

1. Removed tube and bolt. Thread in bolt almost all the way so there's still room for the "hook" to grab it.
2. Put fresh black RTV around the tube an inch from the tip so that it pushes out to form a nice bead when inserted.
3. Push tube into pump lining up the hook onto the bolt threads.
4. Tighten bolt.
Viola. Nice tight tube and bolt. No leaks.

If you try to insert the tube first and then the bolt, it will not seal and be loose. Was the bane of my existence for a year as I chased a leak down.
The rubber o-ring should not go too far in. It seals in the passageway. Inserting the tube all the way was my problem. The hook stops it at the proper depth.

I can't even get the hook to grab the bolt haha, and of course I took the bolt out and the dang tube went all the way in pinching my o-ring in half. All I had last one around was the blue RTV so I'll see if that held or not

When I took the old one out, I kept the bolt in the hole thinking the new one would slip right one, but of course it was way off from the tube hooking onto it. So I took the bolt out, and put a little too much force behind it and I pushed it way too far down

I haven't found a part number, but I have seen other posts where they've went to the hardware store and found a similar size.

you said you cant get the tab to twist over to where it goes to the bolt hole, then you probably have the wrong tube. I've personally never had to put any sealant on those things either. just wiped an oily finger over the o-ring and was good to go. also might clean up the inside of the hole good if there is crusted antifreeze down in it (i'm assuming it was leaking and that's why you changed it)
