Default Ball joints installed wrong ???????

Hey ram fam so I just bought a 95-96 dodge Dana 60 axle and when looking at other axles of different years it appears that my ball joints are not pressed into the c-knuckle on the axle tube but on the caster arm I think that's what you call it am I just over reacting or are the ball joints actually put in wrong never dealt with this before.

OK, that's correct. Weight of the vehicle will keep the joints pushed into the C on the axle.

That type of rust is not uncommon to see with our friends in the Northeast and Midwestern areas. Down south in Winston-Salem, NC, not so much.

Weird. It's upside down compared to the Dana 44 and other D60s. How're you supposed to grease it? When did they change it? Looks very, very odd.

That's the way my '96 front Dana 60 ball joints are oriented. To grease them, I installed the grease fittings, greased the joints, then removed the grease fittings and installed threaded plugs, as the grease fittings protruded just enough to interfere with the u-joint/stub axle assembly.

It also has a weird setup where the front rotor and hub on each side are held together with knurled lug studs

Yeah, some pics online show the normal ball on top so I wonder when Dodge/Dana changed the design. Had to be mid-90s I'm thinking. I see pics of both styles.
