Hey all, I知 going to shoot for the stars on a budget 318 track build. I知 looking for some ideas for heads, cam, intake and anything else to help build hp and win races. Doing have to be a 10 second truck, I知 not going to drag races. I知 a road course guy.
It's a truck....... I don't think 'road course' enters into it anywhere.... You are well over 5000 pounds to start with.....
Think I would start with a 360 though. Dollar for dollar, you will end up with more horsepower in the end.
Well, I posted in the ram forum for the main reason of more 5.2s are in rams. I壇 be building a 5.2 for a Dakota. Figure more people would build up a 5.2 when they already have one. More 360 swapped dakotas and I want to to prove people wrong, I could just send the motor to the speed shop down the road.... rather not though...
So, less weight, but, same still applies. Dollar for dollar, you get more from the 360. There is no 'proving' anything here, it already HAS been proven. Sure, you can build a stout 318, but, the exact same parts on the 360 WILL get you more power.
Question becomes, where do you want your power band?

Well if it痴 going to be a course truck it値l need to be versatile, mid to high rpm would probably be best but I知 sure there痴 other recommendations. Plus it would be nice if it were streetable still, drive it to the track and home ya know.

What's your definition of "streetable?" I had a streetable 69 Coronet with a 440 it literally took a gallon of gas to go one city block

So, do you think a stock 5.9 bottom end handle 8 psi from a Procharger... thinking of going boosted
