Do they have a reputation for sucking? Cuz I really dont wanna chance it.. Ive had more than enough issues with this brake job already. I can tell you I'm done with "Advanced's" calipers.

I normally go with Hawk or EBC, but I was in a rush and couldnt wait for new pads.. Now I think Im regretting it. Ive even used Duralast in the past with no issues.

Side question - do the 7500gvw calipers use the same pads as the 8800's?

I have a great relationship with our local Advanced, but they haven't had decent parts for 5 years or so. They were Carquest. I want to buy my parts there because I like the people, but since Advanced bought Carquest, I have failure after failure.

Great to know - that explains a lot of what Ive been through. Think I'll order some EBC pads and see if all is good after that.. 3 calipers, 2 sets of pads, 2 drum hardware kits later.. Damn.

They make 'environmentally friendly' brake pads.

Are they any good? I'm going through brake pads about every 3 months

Yes, but, they are also pricey.... I usually just go with the wearever gold pads from advance. They seem to last quite a while. (but then, I drive less than 5K miles a year too.....)

Those are the pads I got from Advance.. Except I got the "platinum" version.. How are they for you? Like I said, mine have been gringing to a stop.. Doesnt feel very nice. How do the 2500 pads fit in your calipers? Did you have to bend the tabs or anything? IIRC you have 8800's too

I have had good luck with EBC and Hawk, first time trying the wearever's.

I put the 7500 and now the 8800 calipers on mine they for the whole rotor and you need the 2500 brake pads or they won't for. Also have 1 ton wheel cylinders with hydraboost (original 2500 diesel with 1500 axles and I swapped a 360) and it stops on a dime. I use ceramic pads from AutoZone I think they were the gold's

Good to know, I have the 2500 pads and they fit the rotor surface great.. This particular set of pads did not clip into the calipers nicely though.. I had to smash the front tabs with a hammer to get them lengthened out enough to seat into the clip holders. So far with the 8800's none of the piston side pads fit well either, but no biggie there, just bend the tabs out a bit and good to go.

I had the 1 ton cylinders before this brake job, and they were too much for me.. So far I can say pedal feel is much nicer this time around.

Hawk offered to send me another set of pads, so Im going with those and returning the wearever platinums.
