Default Transmission people advice needed

Ok first I want to thank heyyou for the instant email reply last night to try and help be get off the side of the road. So here's the story had the classic governor solenoid, bands out of adjustment, 47re issues. Mostly just not frienddr into 1st manually. So order a kit that has the heavy duty Borg askin with a number of other things. Replace everything, button her back up and pour 6 quarts of atf+4 full synthetic in her. She drove better but a little slippage in 1st so I recheck the fluid and it was just to the bottom of the stuck so I pour in another quart and half and it reads good.. I drive it across town and around over the next day and half check fluid again and it's good and performing 100% better. So today have to go pick up my four wheeler about 75 Miles away so I hook up my small trailer and we're off. We go a few things around town go get four wheeler and since this was most driving I had done since the job I check fluid before heading back. It was in the middle of the xxxx between add and max so should have been fine for the drive home to get a half quart share we get there. Cruising back on the interstate truck shifting and running better than it ever had all day and then oro if the blue it was like I shifted it into neutral. No funny smell noise or anything. So I pull over get out crawl under and look and all seems fine. Fluid still same level so I restart truck and it goes into gear and I think I'm just a fluke I'll check deeper when I get home so I take off,. It accelerates fine for about 5 seconds then the same thing. Well I'm 4 miles from the next exit let me get it there and I'll come get it on car hauler in the morning. Well the restart thing worked about 3 times then it actually quit pulling and the shifter was like nothing was attached to it or it wasn't moving anything it was just freely going up and down on the column and I also started smelling a slight burning odor at this. My thoughts were well that did it im screwed now so I call a ride and email heyyou. He tells me unplug the 8 pin connector and try it so we can rule out electrical which I did and it didn't change anything. So my truck right now is in the side of the interstate waiting on me to bring a stretcher to get home in the morning. It was showing 4 codes but they weren't checked until after id Unplugged the connector. Going off of memory they were PO720,PO1763, PO713, and PO753. I Need some serious input on what y'all think happened, what more I screwed up trying to "push" the truck after messing up, what was the cause of it (would couple quarts low for 8/10 miles be enough to burn it up), and what are the recommendations from here? (Get a doubl transmission, pull this one and take it to a tranny shop, pull the VB and look at bands, or just take it out back and ****s it.) thanks in advance. Dale

Did you delete the the check valve at the radiator? They have a history of sticking. I would check pressures first to see if it has any line pressure.

The codes coming up after unplugging the trans is normal. I actually expect that.

The shifter being sloppy is rather curious. Wonder if something just worked loose in the pan...... Get it home, drop the pan, see what you find.

Also talked to a guy that's pretty good with trannys told him the whole story and he said he'd put a grand on it being the torque converter "came apart" and the filter is stopped up.

If I go with a donor tranny a 2 wheel drive tranny would work as long as it's a 47re right?

I think you'd need the output shaft from your tranny. I'm leery of the torque converter came apart thing. I think you might need a different tranny guy.

My 46re did the same exact thing in my Durango. I limped it home by restarting it. It was the torque converter that credite out. You will need to flush the tranny as it sent bad fluid through mine.

Ok so you replaced the torque converter and the rest was good to go? Im pulling the pan this afternoon to look at it but what steps do I need to take to figure out exactly which part is gone on this thing?

If the shifter feels sloppy, maybe the manual valve has broken loose from the shifter mechanism. When you drop the pan you'll see the manual valve and related components.
