I didn't take the carrier out did it with it in the truck. The hub comes off easy because they were replaced and had antisieze put on them with torQ there is no need to remove the carrier
What axle did you do this on? On the Dana 44 you have to take the ring gear off to get the center pin out which requires removal of the carrier, unless you grind one of the teeth on the ring gear so the cross pin will slide out.

You grind two teeth on the ring gear. Pull the center pin out an then take your spider and side gears out, and replace them with the TorQ. Now my 2500 with 60/80 will get ARB lockers. This was done on a Dana 44. The rear axle (Chrysler 9.25) has 4 teeth broken off and I've been running it like that for about 3 months now

That's one way to do it but I don't like grinding on the ring gear if I don't have to. On c-clip axles like the Chrysler 8.25 and 9.25 sometimes you have to depending on what gear ratio you have.

I like keeping things simple and not making more work then you have to.
