Default Motor Size in a 2001 Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4

How do I tell what size motor is in a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Laramie Magnum 4x4 Quad cab? is there specific markings in/on the motor or would the VIN answer that question?

Look at the label under the hood. It'll tell you what size it original came with.

Should be numbers on the side of the block as well. 5.2 or 5.9....... (assuming V-8)

That ^^

The under hood emissions label states the engine size.

All 1500 4x4 trucks came with V8 either 5.2 or 5.9. If the labels are missing, look at the harmonic balancer. If it has spokes it's a 5.9. Solid chunk disc it's a 5.2.

Could also check the 8th digit of the VIN. Z is 5.9, Y is 5.2
