Default Fuse Box Help

I have a 99 Ram 1500 5.9 4x4, the fuse box in the engine bay is falling apart, looks like battery acid has ate it up (previous owner). I got another fuse box from the junk yard (identical) just do not want to go pin by pin and swap all of the wires. I would like to just pull the yellow and white connectors from the bottom of the fuse box and pop those into the new box (see pics) Has anyone done this before. Looks like they have tabs and just release the tabs and they pop out, but I have not been able to get any of them out...

Need to pull all the fuses/relays, and then release the tabs (and it looks like there are two different styles there..... on the same connector even....) then they *should* pull out. Expect them to hang on fairly tight though.

Welcome to DF!

Well, I will give it another shot, they just didn't seem to want to come out, even with a lot of force once tabs were released. I really do not want to have to go wire-by-wire and replace them, but need to get it done while the engine is out (rebuilding)...Thanks

Update...well the yellow and white plastic connectors on the bottom can be taken off, but the wires are actually mounted inside the main black plastic base, so there is no option other than replace them one by one...not good.

Well then. That sucks.... Would it be easier to get the box, harness and all, and replace it all?

That may be an option, will have to check out the yards to see if they have a complete harness, most of the ones I have seen have already been cut.

It takes a while to pull the entire harness. I worked on one for over an hour, and still ended up cutting out just inside the firewall. Can be done, just plan on it taking a while. Take some tape and label the connectors as you go. Helps to have these tools to pull the connectors off the sheetsteel w/o breaking them... It may be faster to just swap the box connectors one by one...

Replacing all the wires is not that big of a task but you need to get a release tool to free them from the black base. If you put a strip of masking tape on both side of the wires (flat single lines) about two inches from the end it will keep them in order and will make swapping them much easier.
