steering stablizer removal issues... omg
Ended up replacing the both tie rods and sleeve, just too much corrosion to deal with. Bought MOOG parts. No problem with zerks on those (track bar was a different story). Everything was different dimension between old and new, so I couldn't easily duplicate previous size. I put the old setup back on, sort of, and then measured from knuckle to spring base so I could would have a reference when I adjusted the new parts. I greased all the tapered holes before assembling. Figured grease might be better than anti-seize for that tapered joint. I thought measurement reference would work for me, but when I reassembled and set it on the ground and backed up to look at it... obviously way toe out. I adjusted it by eyeball, but setup an appointment for Tuesday to get it done at a shop.
Thinking about switching to synthetic grease. I have some Tractor Supply red "heavy duty" grease in my gun that, when stored, seems to separate and a thinner liquid leaks out of the bottom on the gun. Irritating, because I specifically bought it for extreme pressure applications - seems the pressure the spring in the gun is enough to make it separate. That stuff is headed to the garbage can, can't really trust that its doing the job if its just leaking out of the gun. Mobil is available locally.
