The best way to wire up lights is to use a separate switch with a relay. It's not that hard as there are many tutorials on google on how to do it. I had no clue and have since added three sets of lights and they still work perfectly nearly 10 years old.

If the light switch has a pull-out feature, you may be able to wire into the proper fuse but I really don't know. There should be the harness hanging down near the bumper as all trucks came with the harness but not all had the switch since not all trucks came with the lights. They aren't that useful in stock form anyway.

I have the pull out switch also purchased the jumper harness, when I tried to connect the harness to what I thought was the connector from the vehicle it would not fit I cut the connector off and straight wired it no lights came on but I noticed that the 4wd light came on on my dash I reconnect the wires the light went off. now I'm trying to find the location of the fog light connector....any ideas

I think the fog lights are one of the items that did not come with all the harnesses since it was an option.

I ran into something similar when hooking up fog lights on my '96 Ram 2500 4x4. The harness for the fog lights existed under the bumper, but I could not find a harness under the dash inside the cab. I also picked up a factory fog light switch for the dash that sits next to the overdrive switch. One of these days, I'll get back to finishing the wiring for those fog lights.

My 2000 had the harness and relay... I put in a factory switch and it lit up the icon on the switch when I put a relay in the spot. Sadly it wouldn't ground the lights, and I have not bothered to figure it out yet. But my 2000 was bare bones, so the harness bits seems to be included at least in 2000.

Thanks for everyone’s input, much appreciated, hope to sort this out when I get the new switch and trace the circuit, will circle back when I get it figured out.
