T case just not going in back to square one I am afraid looks like I going have step back and see what I have to change

Default Tranny swap

Went and found a transfer case from 96 2500 having a 46re and this thing will go in tell the last half inch any thoughts would really be helpful

Gotta be hanging up on something. So far as I know, nothing really changed on the t-case over the years, aside from shift pattern, and if it has provision for VSS or not. Might try doing a bit of measuring, see how far the shaft sticks out of the trans, and how deep the input hub on the t-case is.

Yea what's weird is the first one I tried did the same I'll have to throw measure it again I am a bout ready to drop tranny and put it together and get a good look at what's going on I sure hope it's not the t case bottoming out in side tail end this t case looked up as a match to this tranny the only diff was one is 232 this is 242 both 272 gear ratio tried everything possible short of singing to it last night

I do now on the t-case there's that plate cover or w

hat every it's call that has the shaft seal it's hitting the inside bace of housing stopping it from going last 1/2inch to mating with tranny I

Can anyone tell me what t case I need to have to bolt up to the 46re I got I tried the 231 and the 241dLD both won't go in far enough to bolt on tail end shaft is to short

You may need to change the input shaft on the transfer case. The NP231 and NP241 will both bolt to the 46RE.

And is that a costly job and there's no t case that spent require this that I could go that route
