Are the splines lining up properly? (I would suspect so, as I would like to think dodge had more than a mere half inch of spline engagement....) Measure how far in the input hub sticks out from the t-case. Do you have the original t-case? 241 never came behind the 42RE so far as I am aware, it was pretty much exclusive to the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

The 42RE only came behind the 3.9, did you swap the 5.9 in?

Is the pad interfering with the t-case seating?

No there's nothing in the way I th out maybe the seal that is around tail shaft might be stopping it but the seal plate about t case hup stops short of it all i can see is the shoulder at the end point of splines is the ony thing that stoping from going rest of way if my end shaft would stop flush with the tailend that would solve the problem

Measure the depth of the input hub, as compared to the mating surface.

The 271 may not fit, it was used on 03 and up Ram HD trucks, the bolt pattern is the same but the input is probably different.

95used 42rh 46rh 47rhall 4 speeds 94 were 3 speeds the 42rh in 95 were used in 3.9in the 4×2 1500 the46rh were used in 3.9 5.2 and the 5.947rh in the v10
96 had 42re 46re 47re and all 4 speeds electronic govenor going throw this 46re up in it today and try again to see why o why this 241 t case is afraid of 46re at the point were it seems I am screwed and no longer how to do it but why it won't work and that in in a nut she'll bothers me and frankly* a little mad*

I can understand 'a little mad'. (that would be an understatement for me......) The 241 should bolt to the 46 trans without any trouble at all.

Where are you located?
