That's a pump, or valving issue. Something is sticking.

I finally decided to just replace it all. Trying to find the time to get back on it. Going to pull the steering gear and pump off.

Is your truck 2wd? If your alignment is out it can effect how the truck steers. Maybe not to the extreme you mentioned but caster can make the steering very twitchy when driving. Also, looking into getting a quality steering box rather then one from you typical auto parts store.

Yeah Jlake that's what I was told about the alignment had it check three different places and it's as perfect as can be. I'm going to pull the steering box and replace it here in the next week or two and then the front end will be completely new.

Seriously consider replacing that OE steering box with a RedHead or Borgeson unit. They tend to hold up well. Folks are typically complaining about OE steering box reman units not being very good.

Do the pump as well. Don't get the box from the local parts store. The reman fellers are usually worse than what you are replacing. Get the borgeson, or redhead box. (may check into the blue-top as well, they are relatively new on the scene though.)

Cool. Atomicdog and Hey you I really appreciate that cause I was going to get a remanufactured one. Like I said before I'm not a mechanic and any advice is welcomed. I'm just a working stiff but I really don't want to spare any reasonable expense on the truck. My budget is pretty decent and I ain't scared to save a little longer to do this right. Thanks guys.

Borgeson is good as long as you buy the steering shaft and your truck isn't lifted

The truck isn't lifted. Probably going with a lowering/leveling kit, nothing extreme. Hopefully getting under the truck on Sunday. Have to do the brakes on the wife's Avalanche on Saturday.

I bought a PSC steering pump from summit racing. It was a direct replacement for the OE pump but put out more PSI. Not sure that's what you want with your steering being lite as it is.
