Second temp sensor went away in 98. Plastic fuel rail was 97 only, I think.

Am I able to use the metal rail with my 97 harness though? The spare intake I have is a 96, with metal rails, but the intake I have on it now uses plastic

Yes you can. All the connectors are the same from 96-97 and some even went into 01. As HeyYou stated the only difference between a 96-97 intake and a 98.5-01 was they only had one temp sensor. I even wired in a 01 alternator so I just have to unplug it on my 96, instead of taking them little 10mm and 7mm nuts off

Is this hole towards the back of the intake the EGR you guys told me about? Is this still useable?
Would I have to block that hole off?

Yup, that intake has a provision for an EGR valve. The hole in the back is for a steel tube to thread in that routes over to the exhaust manifold on the early year RAMs ('94-'95 and some really early '96). The manifold you show in the photo has an EGR block off plate on it already where the EGR valve would mount, so you are golden.

my condolences man, replacing the whole intake might be the better/quicker option or at least take the messed up bolt one off so you can work on it inside in the warm temp at your leisure...I would NOT wanna be doing something like this in the cold outside.

besides worrying about the egr blockoff I'd figure the other one should bolt right up once everything is connected?

If my egr ever messes up on my 95 I may just be cheap and get a blockoff plate myself....only the very very early 2nd gen rams even used EGR anyway

Day 2 of going to the scrap yard in below 35 degree weather and I didn’t find a 97 intake, so I think I’m just gonna try out the 96 I already have. I’ll get it all bolted on probably Monday or Tuesday when I have more time.

Ill update this when I get it on there if it works! Thank you!

Also, I’ve been leaking coolant from somewhere since I put this motor in, so I’m pretty sure that was the issue...it would just be little droplets, the truck would get hot after about twenty minutes, and it would lose water. I think this will fix that issue as well (if anyone happens to have the same problems) I also never had a thermostat gasket lol

I had a Durango (same 360 that is in our trucks) and every two months I would be running hot. I was losing coolant but it never hit the ground. Turns out to be pooling by the neck where your bolt broke.

I

got the injector rails switched over, but one of the bolt holes was snapped awhile ago. I got the injectors in as far as I could, on the photos you can see a small gap between them. The left does not have the bolt in it but the right does

Will this be a problem?

I can't say for sure but my truck when I bought my truck and drove it for about a month an injector too a dump on me in the passenger side rail. When I went under the hood it turned out that the driver's side rail had no bolts in it at all and the truck ran fine. So I think you will be fine
