Default Question..Muffler delete backfires.. possible way to eliminate?

Hey everyone. Always read the forums just finally joined. I hope this is in the right section. I have a 98 ram with a 318 manual. I cut my muffler off and was wondering if there was a way to stop the backfiring. I had the battery disconnected when i took it off and it only really does it when its warmed. Once its warm it does one as i shift then its like a machine gun letting off the throttle in gear. If i give it just a little gas while engine braking it stops. Any advice is appreciated

I don't think it should do that....... How old is your O2 sensor?

Welcome to DF!

Unplugging the front sensor would probably just make the problem worse..... Last time you did a tune up?

So that shouldn't be a problem..... If the front O2 is original, replace it. NTK or Denso sensors only please. These trucks don't like Bosch.

BWAHAHAHAHAAH! Man..... You mean like this?

This is just a difference in air pressure between the outside of the exhaust and the inside. My 96 is dumped after the Thrush Turbo, because I was too lazy to extend it out, and if I WOT it down the highway and let off mine will make a loud bang. Glass packs were/are notorious for popping when you decelerate while in gear. It's the same principal.
