Default Dana 60 differences 99 and 00

Found a 1999 D60, thinking about using it as a core - but it looks like at least the brakes are totally different.
Checking parts crossovers...
94-99 have 13" x2.5 brake shoes, and the drums are under the hub.
00-01 have 12" x 3.5 brake shoes and the drums are not under the hub

Questions:
Are the housings the same?
Axles different?
Does the 1999 have the tone ring like the 2000?

Everything is the same except the brakes. The tube ring is the and and everything may I ask why you are getting a rear Dana 60? What happened to yours?

Nothing happened, limited slip just needs freshened. On large components, I tend to want to build a spare and then just swap. Less vehicle down time, and if I get surprised I have spares. The donor is much cleaner than the one under there now, so less time detailing it. The donor has the same ratio, but looks like I'll swap the brake and possibly axles/hubs. I really like just pulling the wheel to get the drum off....

That is the perk of the newer axles and what to me so long to find my 60/80 axles. I wanted the slip off rotors

Yeah, whoever thought that staking parts on to the back of other parts, knowing full well that they need to be replaced on a fairly regular basis, should be forced to work in a brake shop doing nothing but those, for five years.

Default 1998 Dodge Ram 1500

I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. I am looking for a new front axle and I was wondering if I could replace both axles with (front) Dana 60 and (rear) Dana 70 from a 2500. If you are able to what do you need to do to the truck to be able to?

You should post a new thread. But yes you can will need the driveshafts and will either have to weld your lead spring perch on the rear axle or put 2500 leaf hangers on the frame along with new leafs
