Default 2001 transfer case question

2001 Dodge 5 speed 5.2 4wd
I have a 01 Dodge ram 1500 regular cab short bed. With the 5.2 and 5 speed manual. My transfer case tries to slip into neutral while coasting or high rpms. I have researched and found that I think I have nv231d or np231d and was wondering if transfer case out of an automatic would work or not.

Welcome to DF!

There are some minor differences in the input hub between manual, and auto transmissions, would it work? Possibly. I know finding a truck with a manual trans is difficult, at best.... Could try rebuilding your current case. Not that much goes into it.

Moving this to second gen ram section for ya.

Default Transfer case

I disassembled the rear tail output shaft cover and my snap right and everything looks fine. I can put it in and out of 4wd nust fine no hesitation it's only when I'm letting off the gas while in gear it wants to slip into neutral the transfer case shifter that it.

Probably the nylon pads on the shift fork are worn out/gone.

Default Transfer case

Yeah that's one problem I was trying to avoid thinking about. Lol do you know or have a list of all dodges that transfer case might have came in from factory. I'm trying avoid rebuilding mine untill I can get a replacement then rebuild it then. I've also thought about unhooking the 4wd if possible right now I have a bungey cord holding shifter from moving

Any 231d 98 or newer, that came behind a manual trans. (just to be safe.) Ram 1500s, and Dakotas, I think will be your best source.

manual transmissions don't last long in the jyards I frequent.... I saw one in a fresh to the yard 95 3/4 ton, went back a couple days later and it was GONE.
