Default 2 trucks into 1 truck

I have 96’ and 00’ ram 1500. I want to make one truck out of both. The 00’ has a bad frame and the 96’ has a bad cab along with the transmission and transfer case. My buddy is trying to tell me to just replace the transmission and transfer case and fix what’s wrong with the cab. Where as I want to replace the cab, motor, transmission and transfer case due to the fact having a hard time getting the motor to start in the 96’ and and a lot of the wiring is missing. So long story short witch would be the best way to go?

A LOT changed from 96 to 2000..... So, swapping the cab, motor, trans, and t-case is about the only option, if you want things to actually work.

Label everything and take pics. I would pull the bodies on both and then transfer the whole drivetrain then put the body on
