Default 99 to 95 5.9 gasser motor wire harness swap?

Currently sitting with a 99 1500 ram, with the 5.9 gasser. Blew it up last winter, and I bought a 95 5.9 gasser to replace it. Curious if I am able to swap the 99 harness to the 95, and would it work?

Not easily. A LOT changed from 95 to 99. You would basically have to replace all the wiring in the cab, and under the hood. You would also need to swap the dash. And if it's an auto trans, it gets even more complicated....... You can swap JUST the motor though, just make sure you swap intake for the correct year, and use the sensors for the same year wiring harness.

Are you talking about using the 99 harness in the 95 truck or using the 95 engine in your 99 trucks and wiring harness.

What exactly are you trying to do? If you simply need a motor to drop into a truck, those swap over easy. All you need is the correct year sensors/manifold on the truck. (95 will have EGR, 99 won't. older motor has two temp sensors, other one has only one. and those are about the only differences, aside from the sensors, which you can easily swap.)

What is the end goal here? Which truck do you want to actually drive?

Take the cam sensors from under the distributor cap as well. I think the connectors changed at some point.
