I'm pretty sure the plastic one was bad when I bought the truck in 2005. Reason I know that, is because I smelled antifreeze before my drive thru Canada. So I bought a new water pump. In case it went out in another country! Said water pump is still in box that it was sold in, 15 years ago!
Did get a good chuckle however? Someone selling a used thermostat housing for $198! I think the guys at the pick a part down from grandma's house was 20 bucks? eBay is silly sometimes! But, if you pay attention you can score lots of good stuff from them! I've scored many times!
Course ground black pepper worked on that radiator for years! Amazing how tough these engines are! I think I've been run n on a blown head gasket since Nov and the other side just popped recently. Dishing out it's final blow!
I have a buddy run n his boat up from Seattle next month. Another angle! Here's another thought? If the heads cracked. Does that mean they are warped? I would assume so? But, I'm not a mechanic. Reason I ask. If I go with the replace gaskets and the liquid glass. Doesn't matter what you do if the heads are warped? Can you tell I'm in a struggle to decide which avenue to take? $100 to take it to the crusher!
Around here, they pay YOU to haul away scrap cars/trucks. North of 300 bucks for a fullsized truck....
Cracks and warping are two separate problems. One does not imply the other.
Heads usually crack around the valve seats, so, if they are cracked, the magic bottle stuff isn't gonna help. If they are warped..... the magic bottle stuff may not be able to solve that either, if they are bad enough.
