Head over to the bone yard and get a different smart switch. That's one thing that is common and the third brake light bypasses it. If the lights start working, get a new multiswitch and it should be good.

Not sure what he means by smart switch, maybe the brake switch? Mutli-switch is likely the multifunction switch, turn signal/beam select/etc.

Some places list it as a multi switch and some as a smart switch. The headlight switch is separate. It goes through the turn signal switch though for all the tail and clearance lights as well as the high low headlights.

Unlike older trucks, you don't have to pull the steering wheel. Just the upper and lower column covers. Pull the air bag fuse first though, or unhook the battery. There's just something about an explosive air bag next to my head when I work on a steering column that unnerves me.

Yeah, the trick is to disconnect the battery, and wait at LEAST 10 minutes before playing with anything in the steering column. Air Bags can kill, and they have.

Default It worked!!!

After all it ended up being the headlight switch....all the lights are on ,but now one other thing the rear blinkers both right and left work when i hit the switch but the front passenger one doesnt blink but can here the clicker and the driver blinker only blinks if i press down hard on the blinker switch....My guess is i need a new blinker switch!? Am I wrong?

The first time I worked on an air bag equipped car I was trying to track down an electrical problem. I was wailing away on what I thought was the radio amplifier. I finally knocked it loose with a hammer and turned it over and it said "air bag sensor, handle gently". I gently set it down and went up front and unhooked the battery.
