Default Timing gear replaced

Had the timing chain replaced in my 1997 Ram 5.2 Friday. My mechanic called me at work to let me know that he’d never seen one stretched that bad.without breaking. Anyway, I owe you guys a ton of thanks for letting me know about the timing chain issue. My truck has a bunch more power, and is getting better gas mileage.

Glad to hear it's running better again.

Yep, changing the timing set on my 96 was one of the best improvements I did on that truck. It was a major difference.

I have seen them loosen so bad as to skip teeth. Then ignition timing goes all to hell.

I'll bet you've noticed an increase in fuel mileage and come cold weather, you'll find the heat will run you out.
