You can. Personally I would put a Detroit TruTrac in there instead they are basically bulletproof and act as a real locker when needed

If your limited on tools, I'd suggest just replacing the whole rear end, takes about 4 hours to swap in a JY one and be cheaper. It looks like water got in there somehow. This makes me wonder what else is damaged. If you go the carrier replacement make sure to get new gears and master install kit with all of the bearings in it. You'll never know if a stress crack is in the gears or not. A JY axle runs about $300-$350 for a good used one here in San Diego. Probably find one cheaper on Craigs list. 75% less frustration too. 4 small bolts holding the driveshaft on, 8 Ubolts nuts, 2 brake lines and the emergency brake cable. These axles also come with a limited slip and 3-4 different axle ratios. Look at car-part.com to see if one is in your area.

I did get a build sheet, but hard to find a used one in my area that's why I was thinking about a rebuild kit. What's the best place or websites to order them from? And what gear ratios will work, would like something a lil bit better than what I had, its my every day driver, or should I just put what was in it back? Thanks for all y'alls advice and help.

Looks like you might have 3.21 gears. Count the teeth on the gears. # of ring gear teeth divided by # of pinion teeth = gear ratio. Are your tires the stock size? Probably 3.55s or 3.73, tell us what the truck does. Around town, mostly hwy, towing? Is it flat where you live or hills and mountains?

It's got the 9.25 Chrysler rear end, with 3.21 gear ratio. It's pretty flat where I live, and I dont have nothing real heavy or big to pull. I might pull a lil trailer with a regular riding mower on it, that's bout it. My tires are 265/75/R16, the stock tires from factory were 225/75/R16

Trutrac diffs are great!
But it looks like you need a lot of stuff, junk yard axel is realy easy to replace
if you don’t have the special tools or if you’ve never replaced gears before get yourself a junk yard axel
once you learn how to replace gears it’s actualy easy with the right tools, but there is only ONE WAY, to install gears....the right way!!,
you just can’t bolt the new ones in and go drive it
look around, I’m sure you will find one in good shape, the 9.25 axel was installed on millions of dodge trucks
