Default Transmission stuck in park

So as I was driving down the highway at about 50 miles an hour, my transfer case exploded. It took the valve body with it. So my question is will a valve body off of a 47re work with a 46rh?I have installed it not realizing they're different transmissions and now the transmission is stuck in park. Not sure if it's only because of that Park rod or if the pieces are incompatible?
Everything hooked up right all the wire connections were the same no visible differences between the two.Honestly I'm not for sure that the parts transmission was a 47re but it came out of a 97 2500.

What motor in the 2500? I know some parts from the 47 will fit in the 46 (at least they say). I am guessing just the park rod or there is more damage you don't know

How does the park rod function, and what should I look for?

If they both have the 5.9 Gasser they are both 46REs. Anything chunks or text metallic bits in the pan? Park rod has to go into a special tunnel. But if that wasn't in right that would mean no park.

What year are the trucks, You state the donor was a 97, what year truck are you putting it into. RE and RH valve bodies are NOT interchangeable.

It's a 94. Was hoping to not hear that. Thank you. It fits well enough.

But it won't work. The RE valve bodies expect a governor pressure solenoid, and sensor. Your PCM has no provision for that. The RH trans has a governor that is mechanical. You need the valve body out of another RH. Rumor has it, they are all the same between 46-47-48RH transmissions.

So are you saying that I indeed have a 46re and not an RH? It's out of a 97 2500 4 wheel drive.
