4.10 gears

not bad at all... but I have a really good running 5.2, with free flowing cats / exhaust and intake... for around town, mine also has a higher stall converter (2600-2800). it's no speed demon, obviously nothing like my corvettes, but it's also an 8,000 pig of a vehicle... and does better than my ram 1500 truck with a 5.9 and 3.5 gears. I think you'd be really pleased if you ran across a truck with the 4.10 gears in it or swapped yours out...

Awesome! Im even more convinced in getting those 4.10 gears now. Ive already done quite a bit of work to this truck so this is the next step. Hope the boss is nice on christmas $$$$

btw. you might watch the classifieds like craigslist and marketplace... I bought a whole truck that had an engine fire for $600, $200 to have it hauled home... I got both axles and 241 transfer case out of it... as well as a good, recently built transmission. I sold enough parts off of it that the axles with 4.1 gears cost me about $200 and a couple weekends of hard work...

The best power upgrade I've done is to go from 3.55 to 4.10 gears with 33" tires. Detroit TrueTracs replaced the carriers and Yukon gears got bolted onto them.
It still isn't a race truck but it doesn't struggle like it used to from a stop.
If you want to do another worthwhile upgrade then get a tuner so your shift points will be changed. My truck used to go into overdrive at 40mph and when I was in a 35mph zone it would shift out of overdrive at every little incline but now with the tuner it doesn't go into overdrive until about 48mph so it's a lot better driving through town.
