Did the plenum get repaired when the engine was rebuilt? That is a major power robber there.....

Shoot, that's my life with an empty truck. Never mind a trailer.

I’d go with the re gear. I’m running 98 2500 gas 37” tires with 4.88 ratio. Seems high at times like on the highway with overdrive off I’m pushing 3500 rpms. But if I turn it on, I’m back down to 2200 rpm at 65 mph. An with the tuner controlled shift points I can get down as far as 1800 rpms at 55 mph. But who goes that slow lol.
as far as off-roading goes I love it. Best traction I’ve ever seen I can crawl up a gravelly, snowy, muddy incline with no slippage an barley any rpms. So it gives me to ability to put the power down. As far as mpg goes, ya know what they say I don’t get mileage I get gas. Overall tho well worth it.

4.10 with 33" tires is perfect. If you go 35" then 4.56 is the way to go. You can get an idea of RPM's using this calculator. https://www.differentials.com/techni...io-calculator/

The factory ORE 1500s came with 4.10s and 275/70/17 (32.2") tires. I have 33s on my ORE with the 5.2. When the transmission is working correctly I am at ~2100rpms at 70mph (GPS).

I will say that the 5.2 does fine pulling 6500lbs. Empty I can get 15mpg on average.

4.10s with 33" tires is about perfect for general use IMHO... I have 4.10s behind a 5.2 in a heavy van and it does surprisingly well on the road and off... It's on 33" tires... 4.10 dana 60s front and rear axles from a 98 2500 truck...
